Cob Castle – The Abandoned Community

Loading

Back in the last 1800s and early 1900s, ‘Cob Castle’ was a community of workers who were employed in the nearby quarries, mills and factories within Haslingden. Many people worked long, laborious hours, often with a pittance for a wage.

Together, they would witness tragedies such as a murder on their own doorstep, accidents in the quarries and of course serious injuries in the nearby Hutch Bank Mill and Plantation Mill.

We have covered a couple of these stories in previous videos as well as over on our website.

In this video however, we re-visit Cob Castle as well as another area known as ‘Underbank’, and view the ruins of the buildings that are nothing more than a reminder of a once prosperous region of Haslingden.
