In the suffocating silence of that Manchester night, DAVID SMITH stood frozen – his ears ringing with the sound of a teenager’s final screams, his eyes locked on the brutal spectacle unfolding before him.

Blood pooled across the living room floor as Ian Brady, with an axe slick in his hand, stood over the lifeless body of Edward Evans. Myra Hindley watched from the shadows, cold and complicit.

Smith, barely out of his teens himself, had walked unknowingly into a chamber of horror.

That night, evil wore familiar faces – family, even. But with trembling hands and a stomach turned inside out, he did the one thing Brady never expected: he picked up the phone and told the police everything.

It was the beginning of the end for two of Britain’s most notorious murderers – and a night that would haunt him for the rest of his life.

In this video, we travel to SOUTHERN CEMETERY, GORTON CEMETERY, HURST CEMETERY and finally, SADDLEWORTH MOOR – to retell that one night in October of 1965, and a night which would ultimately become the end of the MOORS MURDERERS’, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.
