In this short video, we visit the final resting place of JAMES SHAW, passenger superintendant for the East Lancashire Railway in 1860.

He organised the trains and carriages that took 2,453 people to and from New Bailey Station, Salford on September 3rd and 4th.

He also risked his own life in trying to slow down and stop the 17 carriages that had broken loose from their couplings when arriving at the Helmshore station in the early hours of Tuesday, 4th September.
